2021

It is time to sumup las year!

Last year was intense. In January, the Team for Process Management and project teams started working on implementing the electronic document management system (EDMS). Over 40 people were directly involved in this process.

A year has passed since the ceremonial inauguration of the project “Excellence Initiative - Research University” in February. That month, we launched the Forum of WUT employees at MS Teams, which is currently associated with over 1,000 people. At the Forum, employees are happy to share information about current events, advise on vaccinations, or contact regarding the rental of research equipment.

This is not the only activity addressed to WUT employees that we have carried out over the last 12 months. As part of implementing the EIRU program (IDUB) at Warsaw University of Technology, we arranged completely free sports classes for our employees and organized a basic English language course for employees serving foreign guests, the Academic Guards and people working at the reception desk.

Last year, we organized nearly ten meetings for the WUT community. We presented the issues on which employees associated with implementing the assumptions of the EIRU program at the Warsaw University of Technology are working.

Last year, apart from the continuation of the already known competitions, such as BEYOND POB, CB POB competitions, the internal grant competition supporting an application submitted in the European Research Council (ERC) competition, or Best Paper and Open Science, we also launched eight new ones: POSTDOC PW (two editions), Mobility PW, competition for teacher grants, the competition for projects aiming to purchase equipment, competition for grants for Student Research Groups, CyberSummer@WUT, BioTechMed_LAB-1 and VISITING RESEARCHER.

2021 is also a time of intense research work. Scientists, as part of the grants received in our competitions, worked, among others, on designing a nanovaccine based on recombinant proteins of SARS-CoV-2 virus covalently bonded on nanoparticles, modular hand prosthesis, on an innovative filter material, or on an effective therapy to prevent drug resistance among skin melanoma patients. We wrote about the research results on the EIRU website, and we talked about them in the podcast “Trzy kwadranse z badawczą” (Three-quarters hour with research).

In 2021, after many months of careful preparations, the WUT Patent programme was launched, which purpose is to support our university employees in submitting applications for international protection of inventions.

Ahead of us is another year full of exciting challenges. We enter it full of energy!
