WUT scientists work on increasing the biogas production

Although researchers have been looking for solutions facilitating the intensification of the process of methane fermentation for years, so far, they have failed to determine a method which each time would lead to an increase in biogas production. The reason remains unknown. WUT scientists are among the researchers who are trying to explain that.

Under the Mobility PW programme, Konrad Kwatek, DSc, from the Faculty of Physics at WUT, visited the Materials Science Institute of Madrid to conduct research. His research findings may lead to the application of a new solid electrolyte in lithium-ion batteries in the future.

Increasing the sensitivity, selectivity and reliability of results of biochemical analyses

At the Faculty of Mechatronics at the WUT, a Pneumonitor was created, which allows to monitor the frequency and depth of breathing and also to associate these with the variability of the heart rhythm or the physical activity of the examined person. This is the first such "mobile" solution designed for long-term observation.

New therapy for brain cancer and elimination of side effects of chemo- and radiotherapy

Therapy based on emulsion carriers with a chemotherapeutic agent and particles silencing genes responsible for cancer DNA repair (mechanism of synthetic lethality).

Glioblastoma multiforme is one of the most invasive forms of primary brain cancers, and the average lifespan of the patient from the moment of diagnosis is about 12 months. A team of researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology, Polish Academy of Sciences, and Warsaw University is working on solutions which are to increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy and improve the comfort of living of a cancer patient.

Organosilicon aerogels in plant biotechnology and bioprocessing engineering

A platform for immobilizing transgenic roots, utilizing organosilicon aerogel with a varying morphology (structure and diameter of pores) and modified surface properties.

A group of collaborating researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology and Warsaw Medical University is working on devising a platform intensifying biotechnological processes in plant biomass grown in in vitro cultures, as part of the research grant BIOTECHMED-2.

Support for People Affected by the War in Ukraine

Automatic feature selection in intrabuilding localising

Separate selection of points inside corridors and the Small Auditorium in the WUT Main Building. By utilising this approach, you can determine an approximate distance of the localised object, with an error lower than five meters.

Scientists at WUT are working on improving the service of intrabuilding localising. The solution is increasingly utilised in the care for people suffering from dementia or navigation of automatic robots, among other things. 

Disinfected purified wastewater – an alternative source of water?

In times of extreme weather phenomena such as drought, research directed at the rational management of freshwater resources has become crucial. Provided that it is safe for the environment and people, a solution to the problem of diminishing water resources might be the disinfection of purified wastewater. WUT researchers are checking if safety can be guaranteed.
